The world famous 200 crore Dainik Hindustan Advertisement Scandal : after High Court rejects their F.I.R quashing petitions :
PATNA/ The swords of arrest now hang over the necks of all the accused persons of the Munger Kotwali P.S case No.445 /2011, namely Smt. Shobhana Bharatia (Chairperson,M/S Hindustan Media Ventures Limited, New Delhi), Amit Chopra (The Publisher, M/S Hindustan Media Ventures Limited, New Delhi), Shashi Shekhar(The Chief Editor, Dainik Hindustan, New Delhi), Awadh Kumar Srivastava alias Aaku Srivastava (The Editor, Dainik Hindustan, Patna edition, Patna) and Binod Bandhu (The Regional Editor, Dainik Hindustan, Bhagalpur edition, Bhagalpur) after the Honourable Justice of the Patna High Court, Anjana Prakash in her historical judgement on Dec 17, 2012, refused to interfere in the police investigation in the world famous 200 crore Dainik Hindustan advertisement scandal case.
The Honourable Justice Anjana Prakash, in her order, also directed the Investigating Police officer of Munger to expedite the investigation and preferably conclude the investigation within a period of three months from the date of the receipt of this order. The Justice further directed the office to communicate this order to the Munger Police Superintendent through FAX for its onwards transmission to the Investigating Police Officer.
All the accused persons namely Shobhana Bharatia, Amit Chopra, Shashi Shekhar, Aaku Srivastawa and Binod Bandhu have been charged with cheating and committing forgery with the Union and the Bihar government in a bid to get the government advertisements under sections 420/471 and 476 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 8(B)/14 and 15 of The Press & Registration of Books Act,1867. The Deputy Police Superintendent(Munger), A.K.Panchalar and the Police Superintendent (Munger), P.Kannan, in their supervision reports, have found all allegations against the accused persons prime-facie true in this case. The Honurable High Court,in its earlier orders, had asked the Munger police not to take any coercive measures against all the accused persons till further orders of the court.(EOM).
