Aftab Alam /Mumbai/ As part of our growing interaction with journalists in neighbouring countries, a Mumbai Press Club team of 11 members led by vice chairman Rohit Chandaverker left for Nepal on Monday.
The team will be visiting various centers including Kathmandu, Lumbini and Pokhra and will be studying the tumultuous democratic changes that are taking place in the Himalayan nation. They will also meet Nepal's Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai as well as leaders of various political parties and communities.
The Nepal tour is to reciprocate the visit of a team of Federation of Nepali Journlaists (FNJ) in September, this year. This exchange comes on the heels of a similar interaction with journalists in Pakistan.
The Press Club delegation will be interacting with the SAARC
secretariat in Kathmandu and exploring the possibility of making these exchanges a part of regional cooperation between nations.
The Press Club team will be in Nepal for a week till December 17. Team members have borne their own travel costs.
